Match report: Hull City 0-2 Chelsea.

Diego Costa got Chelsea’s season back on track with a dominant second-half performance to sink Hull at the KCOM Stadium.

The Spain striker set up the opener for Willian on the hour mark then curled home a similar effort six minutes later to end his side’s run of two consecutive Premier League defeats with a 2-0 win. It was a timely tonic for Blues boss Antonio Conte who had seen his side struggle in a disappointing first half in which they failed to muster a single shot on target.

But for the acrobatics of Thibaut Courtois, who saved from Robert Snodgrass and Ryan Mason, Chelsea could have been heading for another damaging defeat.

Chelsea grabbed the lead when more fine work from Costa found Willian on the left, the Brazilian turned Henriksen and David Meyler before curling a superb shot into the roof of the net.

Chelsea had looked a different side since the interval and they stretched their lead in the 67th minute when Costa blasted home after Nemanja Matic’s blocked effort landed perfectly for Costa, who fired home from a similar position.

Mario Pasalic set to return in January as Chelsea’s manager Antonio Conte plots a massive overhaul of the Stamford Bridge players.

Pasalic is currently on a season-long loan at AC Milan and has yet to play a minute of first-team football for either the Blues or the Italian giants.

At just 21, Pasalic is still tipped to have a bright future in football after joining from Hajduk Split in 2014. And with Conte meeting several times with Roman Abramovich in recent days to convince the club’s oligarch owner to fund another spending slurge.

Pasalic played 22 times on loan at Monaco last season but the midfielder has found playing time hard to come by under Milan boss Vincenzo Montella. According to reports in Italy, the Croatian is at the bottom of the pecking order in Milan’s midfield, with Suso, Jose Sosa, Juraj Kucka, Riccardo Montolivo, Giacomo Bonaventura and Andrea Poli all ahead.

The loan is costing Milan a cool £870,000 – but Montella has told Pasalic he will play more in the coming weeks, before being sent back to West London.

His agent Vincenzo Horseman said: “He wants to play more and we are sure he will do so in the coming weeks.

“He speaks often with Montella, who motivates him and gives him advice, as soon as he is ready he will play.

“For me it is very important to put the injury behind him and be happy.”

Chelsea eye Bonucci move

Chelsea are hoping to agree a deal for Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci, according to the Express .
The Italy international is in line for a new deal with the Serie A champions though Blues boss Antonio Conte is keen on securing his services as he looks to strengthen his squad following back to back defeats.
Both Chelsea and Premier League leaders Manchester City were linked with a move for the twenty-nine year old, who has been with Juve since the summer of 2010.
During his time with the Old Lady he has racked up two hundred and eighty appearances in all competitions, scoring sixteen goals.
He has been part of the squads that have won five consecutive league titles while he also has won the Coppa Italia twice and played in the 2015 Champions League final defeat to Barcelona while he has been capped sixty-three times for his country, scoring four goals.

Antonio Conte has explained why Roman Abramovich visited Chelsea’s training ground earlier this week, amid reports claiming the Italian manager is under pressure.

Two consecutive defeats have left the Blues in midtable, eight points off top spot after six fixtures.
Not only have the results been below-par, but performances have not been what were expected when Conte was hired, and Abramovich is reportedly not happy.
However, the Italian has downplayed such reports, indicating that the passionate Russian only wanted to have a conversation about football.
Speaking prior to Chelsea’s clash with Hull, Conte said: “I’m lucky because Mr Abramovich is very passionate about football.
“To talk with him about football is very interesting. To discuss and explain my idea of football, to have a confrontation.”
It was a Freudian slip. It was clarified that the Italian, whose English is very good and continually improving, meant conversation.
There have also been suggestions Abramovich is already looking ahead to the January transfer window, with the view of bankrolling another spending spree to overhaul the struggling Blues squad.
But Conte refused to discuss any transfer business, with his focus entirely on the present.
“We must think about the present, because the present is now more important,” the Italian added.
“I don’t see an opportunity in January to spend money or to change. Now I see the present.
“I see in the present the opportunity to improve, to continue to work, to understand it’s not easy.

“We know this in the club. And we must continue to change the story of last season.”
